THE BUILDING STORY

A building dedicated to seeing transformation in Seattle by creating sacred space for God and sacred experience for people.

We believe Seattle has the potential to drastically impact the direction of modern culture. We are passionate about transformation and desire to play a part in the holistic well being of our city. The decision to open Adoration House and Ancient Gate Coffee came from that desire and the conviction that a city is transformed as individuals encounter the living God.

In January of 2022, a small team grew around the vision of creating “sacred space” as an avenue for transformation in Seattle. It wasn’t long after this that the University District became the neighborhood for the project. In February of 2022, we met the owners of a building in the neighborhood and, after discovering a shared desire for transformation, the partnership of building out this property into Adoration House (Prayer Room) and Ancient Gate (Coffee Shop) began. We were generously donated the full use of this building along with a complete renovation of the space to serve this vision.

Over the last couple years, Adoration House has continued to grow from one prayer meeting a week to five prayer and worship sets running Monday - Thursday. As a culture of prayer and worship are being built in the prayer room, plans for Ancient Gate Coffee and a full remodel of the physical building have been taking place in the background. We are eager to move into the building as renovations are nearing their end!

This Summer, you will find a beautiful store front coffee shop with an immersive style prayer room tucked away behind the cafe. These two projects are designed to achieve our goal of creating sacred space in the city unto transformation. We believe that people encounter transformation through the presence of God. We seek to create a space dedicated to seeking Jesus first in the Urban scope of University Way.
